On October 1, 1985, Karen Taylor was found murdered in her home on Elm Avenue in Imperial Beach. Her vehicle, wallet and credit cards were missing. Late that same day a white male suspect had the victim’s vehicle towed in Bakersfield, California. The suspect attempted to have the vehicle repaired at a service station using Karen’s stolen credit card. The suspect listed a Richgrove, California zip code on the repair order. The suspect told the service station employees he was from Fresno and had worked for big oil companies in Michigan, New York and Alaska. He also said he worked for a company near Fresno Airport, possibly an oil refinery company. The suspect (see sketch) did not want to wait for the vehicle to be repaired and was given a ride to the Greyhound Bus Station by one of the service station employees. The suspect was carrying two military style duffle bags.
