LOCATION: 446 Alta Road, San Diego
DECEASED: Omar Hasenin, 41-years-old

On November 3, 2020, just after 3:00 p.m., deputies at the George Bailey Detention Facility immediately responded to assist an inmate, forty-one-year-old Omar Hasenin, when he was found unresponsive in his cell. Deputies and medical staff performed lifesaving measures until relieved by fire department personnel. Unfortunately, Hasenin was pronounced deceased at the facility.

Hasenin was booked into custody by the San Diego Police Department on September 4, 2020, for the charges of:

459 / 460 PC – Burglary
459 PC – Burglary
496(a) PC – Receiving Stolen Property Under $950
3056 PC – Violation of Parole

The Homicide Unit responded to investigate the death. No evidence of foul play was discovered.

The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and completed their reports. They determined the cause of death to be toxic effects of fentanyl with a contributing cause of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. The manner of death was determined to be accidental.
