The following information is fragmentary and has not been completely verified. It is based, in part, on hearsay and is intended for early information use rather than being a formal investigative report.

On January 18, 2021, just after 12:30 a.m., Sheriff's deputies and officers with the California Highway Patrol responded to the 700 block of Main Street in Ramona for a report of a shooting. When deputies and officers arrived, they found an adult male who had been shot. They attempted lifesaving measures until relieved by fire personnel. Unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation.

The identity of the male is known to investigators; however, his name is being withheld pending family notification.
