LOCATION:       1173 Front Street, San Diego 
DECEASED:        Kevin Lamar Mills, 59-years-old

On November 11, 2020, at about 2:00 a.m., deputies at the San Diego Central Jail found an inmate, fifty-nine-year-old Kevin Lamar Mills, unresponsive in his cell. Deputies and medical staff immediately performed lifesaving measures until relieved by fire department personnel. Mills was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, Mills was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.  

Mills was booked into custody by the San Diego Sheriff's Department on July 25, 2020, for the charges of: 

245(a)(1) PC – Assault with a Deadly Weapon Not a Firearm
148(a)(1) PC – Resisting an Officer

The Homicide Unit responded to investigate the death. No evidence of foul play was discovered.

The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and completed their reports. They determined the cause of death to be hypertensive cardiovascular disease. The manner of death was determined to be natural.
