Sexually Violent Predator Hearing – Borrego Springs

The San Diego Superior Court has ordered the conditional release of Sexually Violent Predator (SVP) Douglas Badger.  If you live in the community of Borrego Springs, the California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) has recommended the placement of Douglas Badger at 1619 Zuni Trail, Borrego Springs, CA.  He was convicted of sexual assaults dating back to 1981 and 1990. 

While this address falls within the jurisdiction of the San Diego Sheriff's Department, NEITHER THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT, THE SAN DIEGO COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE NOR THE SEXUAL ASSAULT FELONY ENFORCEMENT (SAFE) TASK FORCE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE SELECTION OF THE PROPOSED SITE.  THAT SELECTION PROCESS IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF DSH AND THE SAN DIEGO SUPERIOR COURT.

With the hearing scheduled for August 5, 2022, the SAFE Task Force will be accepting public comments about the proposed placement to be included in the formal response to the court and the Department of State Hospitals.

This is your opportunity to support or object to the proposed placement before it is finalized.  The District Attorney's Office and SAFE Task Force will submit your comments to the court for the court’s consideration.

Comments will be accepted between the dates of July 8, 2022 and July 22, 2022.
