Unfortunately, the shooting investigation into the gravely injured adult male in this incident has changed to a homicide investigation. The male succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at a local area hospital this Wednesday morning, February 3, 2021.
The Medical Examiner's Office conducted the autopsy today and has identified the victim as thirty-seven-year-old Jerome Francois Turley. Turley is a resident of the city of San Diego. The victim's family has been notified of his death. The preliminary cause of death is gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide.

On February 2, 2021, just after 8:30 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to 9100 Olive Drive in Spring Valley for citizens reporting hearing gunshots. When deputies arrived, they found an adult male who had been shot in the parking lot of an illegal marijuana dispensary. Deputies provided life-saving measures until relieved by fire personnel. The male was transported to a local area hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, his injuries are grave.
The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation. The identity of the male is known to investigators; however, his name is being withheld pending family notification.
