LOCATION:  3007 Dehesa Road, Unincorporated El Cajon

DECEASED:  Dylan Michael Brooks, 28-years-old

SUSPECT:     Frank Eldon Billeter, 33-years-old

The Medical Examiner's Office conducted the autopsy today and has identified the victim as twenty-eight-year-old Dylan Brooks. Brooks is resident of Lakeside. The victim's family has been notified of his death. The preliminary cause of death is gunshot wound and the manner of death is homicide.

Sheriff's Homicide detectives continued their investigation and identified thirty-three-year-old Frank Billeter as the suspect in the murder of Brooks. Billeter is a resident of Lakeside. Billeter was already in custody at San Diego Central Jail for separate charges. Today, detectives added the additional charge of 187(a) PC – Murder.

Information from prior release:

On February 10, 2021, at about 6:00 p.m., Sheriff's deputies and officers with the Sycuan Police Department responded to 3007 Dehesa Road in the unincorporated area of El Cajon for a report of a shooting. When deputies and officers arrived, they found an adult male who had been shot in a hotel room at the Singing Hills Golf Resort at Sycuan. They provided lifesaving measures until relieved by Sycuan Fire Department personnel. The male was transported to a local area hospital. Unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation.

The identity of the male is known to investigators; however, his name is being withheld pending family notification.
