On February 15, 2021 just after 3:05 p.m., deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station's Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a Coaster train near Chesterfield Dr. and San Elijo Ave. in the City of Encinitas.  Upon arrival, the subject was deceased. 

The Sheriff's Transit Enforcement Unit investigates incidents along the routes of the North County Transit District.  The Medical Examiner's Office will make a positive identification of the body pending notification of the family.
