On Thursday, June 8 just before 10:00 a.m., deputies from the Sheriff's Rural Command responded to a report of a hiking accident at Three Sisters Falls in the Cleveland National Forest, which is in an unincorporated area of Descanso.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned a group consisting of a woman and four teenagers were hiking along the ledge of one of the falls when one of the teens slipped. The woman supervising the teenagers attempted to keep the girl from going over the ledge. Unfortunately, both the woman and girl fell and suffered severe injuries.
Several people witnessed the accident and attempted to render medical aid. The woman died at the scene. The teenager was flown via helicopter to a hospital for severe but non-life-threatening injuries.
The Medical Examiner's Office was notified about this incident and responded to Three Sisters Falls. The name of the deceased is currently being withheld pending notification of the family.

El Jueves 8 de Junio, justo antes de las 10:00 a.m., oficiales del Comando Rural del Alguacil respondieron a un informe de un accidente de caminata en Three Sisters Falls en el Bosque Nacional de Cleveland, que se encuentra en un área no incorporada de Descanso.
Cuando los oficiales llegaron a la escena, se enteraron de que un grupo formado por una mujer y cuatro adolescentes caminaban por el borde de una de las cataratas cuando uno de los adolescentes se resbaló. La mujer que supervisaba a los adolescentes intentó evitar que la niña cayera por la cornisa. Desafortunadamente, tanto la mujer como la niña cayeron y sufrieron heridas graves.
Varias personas presenciaron el accidente e intentaron prestar asistencia médica. La mujer murió en el lugar. La adolescente fue trasladada en helicóptero a un hospital por lesiones graves pero que no ponen en peligro su vida.
La Oficina del Médico Forense fue notificada sobre este incidente y respondió a Three Sisters Falls. El nombre del difunto se mantiene actualmente en espera de notificación a la familia.
