The Sheriff's Department is investigating after farm animals were found dead in the East County. 

Deputies with the Alpine Sheriff's Substation responded to a call of suspicious circumstances in the 400 block of Peutz Valley Road in Alpine just after 8:00 a.m. on February 19. Upon arrival, deputies learned the reporting party's livestock was found dead in an animal pen on the property. A total of ten animals were found deceased. The livestock consisted of lambs, goats and a ram.  

This is being investigated as a felony animal cruelty case. We want your help in solving this crime.  If you live in the area and might have surveillance video, share it with our detectives.
