LOCATION:       3800 Block of Alta Vista Drive, Fallbrook

DECEASED:        David Nathaniel Caballero, 62-years-old

The Medical Examiner's Office conducted the autopsy today and has identified the victim as sixty-two-year-old David Nathaniel Caballero. Caballero is a resident of Fallbrook. The victim's family has been notified of his death. The preliminary cause of death is gunshot wound. The manner of his death is still under investigation.

Information from prior release:

On February 28, 2021, at about 8:20 p.m., Sheriff's deputies responded to the 3800 block of Alta Vista Drive in Fallbrook for a report of a multivehicle accident. When deputies arrived, they found an adult male who had been shot. Fire personnel transported the male to a local area hospital. Unfortunately, the male was pronounced deceased at the hospital.   

The Sheriff's Homicide Unit responded and has assumed responsibility of the investigation.
