LOCATION:       1173 Front Street, San Diego

DECEASED:        Lazaro Alvarez, 40-years-old

Just after 4:00 a.m. on November 22, 2020, deputies at the San Diego Central Jail found an inmate, forty-year-old Lazaro Alvarez, unresponsive in his cell. Deputies and medical staff immediately performed lifesaving measures until relieved by fire department personnel. Alvarez was transported to a local area hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, Alvarez was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving.   

Alvarez was booked into custody by the San Diego Police Department on November 21, 2020, and was in custody for the charge of: 

602 PC – Trespassing

The Homicide Unit responded to investigate the death. No evidence of foul play was discovered.

The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy and completed their reports. They determined the cause of death to be sudden cardiac arrest due to acute myocardial infarction and methamphetamine and fentanyl toxicity. The manner of death was determined to be accidental.
