On Sunday, January 19, 2025, at approximately 6:52 p.m. deputies with the North Coastal Sheriff's Station responded to a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred in the 900 block of North Coast Highway 101, in the City of Encinitas.
Preliminary information indicates that a sport utility vehicle, possibly light in color, struck the pedestrian in the roadway. The driver immediately fled the scene. The 66-year-old female pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The cause of the crash is currently still under investigation.
It is unknown if the use of alcohol or drugs is a factor in this ongoing investigation.

Atropello fatal y fuga – Encinitas
Se está investigando una colisión fatal de atropello y fuga.
El domingo 19 de enero de 2025, aproximadamente a las 6:52 p.m., los agentes de la Estación del Sheriff de North Coastal respondieron a un informe de una colisión que involucró a un vehículo y un peatón que ocurrió en la cuadra 900 de North Coast Highway 101, en la ciudad de Encinitas.
La información preliminar indica que un vehículo utilitario deportivo, posiblemente de color claro, atropelló al peatón en la carretera. El conductor huyó inmediatamente del lugar. La peatona de 66 años fue transportada en ambulancia a un hospital cercano donde sucumbió a sus heridas. La causa del accidente aún está bajo investigación.
Se desconoce si el uso de alcohol o drogas es un factor en esta investigación en curso.
