Attempted Carjacking - San Marcos

On April 29, 2021, at approximately 2:35 PM, deputies from the Sheriff's San Marcos Station responded to a report of an attempted carjacking near the intersection of South Pacific Street and West San Marcos Boulevard in San Marcos.  Deputies located a witness who described seeing a group of juveniles, possibly armed with handgun and baseball bat try to take a pickup truck from its driver. The juveniles were unsuccessful and fled the area on foot. Deputies established a perimeter and detained several juveniles. Despite a thorough search of the area for the possible victim, he was not located. It is unknown if the detained juveniles were related to the original incident. One of the detained juveniles was arrested for possession of graffiti paraphernalia. No weapons were located.
