Yesterday, Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m. an officer-involved shooting (OIS) occurred on the 1700 block of Kyrsten Terrace Ct. in Alpine, California. The OIS incident involved personnel from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office and unfortunately resulted in the death of one individual. Following the officer-involved shooting, it was subsequently determined that the handgun that was pointed at deputies was a replica firearm.
The San Diego Sheriff's Office will be releasing Body Worn Camera footage and a Critical Incident Video in the coming days with details of the shooting.
Today the California Department of Justice (DOJ), pursuant to Assembly Bill 1506 (AB 1506), announced that it is investigating and will independently review this officer-involved shooting (OIS).
Following notification by local authorities, DOJ’s California Police Shooting Investigation Team initiated an investigation in accordance with AB 1506 mandates. Upon completion of the investigation, it will be turned over to DOJ’s Special Prosecutions Section within the Criminal Law Division for independent review. Investigación sobre el tiroteo involucrado por un oficial de la Oficina del Sheriff de San Diego
Ayer, miércoles 5 de noviembre de 2025, aproximadamente a las 7:30 p.m., ocurrió un tiroteo que involucró a un oficial (OIS) en la cuadra 1700 de Kyrsten Terrace Ct. en Alpine, California. El incidente involucró a personal de la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de San Diego y desafortunadamente resultó en la muerte de una persona. Después del tiroteo, posteriormente se determinó que la pistola que apuntaba a los agentes era una réplica de arma de fuego.
La Oficina del Sheriff de San Diego publicará imágenes de la cámara corporal y un video de incidente crítico en los próximos días con detalles del tiroteo.
Hoy, el Departamento de Justicia de California (DOJ), de conformidad con el Proyecto de Ley de la Asamblea 1506 (AB 1506), anunció que está investigando y revisará de forma independiente este tiroteo que involucró a un oficial.
Tras la notificación de las autoridades locales, el Equipo de Investigación de Tiroteos de la Policía de California del Departamento de Justicia inició una investigación de acuerdo con los mandatos de AB 1506. Una vez completada la investigación, se entregará a la Sección de Enjuiciamientos Especiales del Departamento de Justicia dentro de la División de Derecho Penal para una revisión independiente.
