A man suspected of driving recklessly has been arrested after leading Sheriff's Deputies on a short pursuit from Santee to San Diego.
On Tuesday, November 18, just after 4:30 p.m., the Sheriff’s Communications Center received several calls about a man recklessly driving a Chevy Silverado in Santee.
Deputies from the Santee Sheriff’s Station tried initiating a traffic stop near Mission Gorge Road and Rancho Fanita Drive, but the driver sped off.
A pursuit followed. Deputies monitored the truck as the driver continued attempting to evade them in heavy freeway traffic.
A Sheriff’s ASTREA helicopter arrived overhead and followed the suspect, who struck several vehicles and an electrical utility box, which severely damaged his truck.
The pursuit, which lasted about 20 minutes, ended near Meade Avenue and 34th Street in the City of San Diego.
Daniel Ibarra (DOB 07/25/1997), the driver and sole occupant of the truck, was arrested and booked into the San Diego Central Jail for felony evading and reckless driving.
The California Highway Patrol and San Diego Police Department are investigating the related collisions.

El sospechoso fue arrestado tras una persecución.
Un hombre sospechoso de conducir de manera temeraria fue arrestado tras una breve persecución policial desde Santee hasta San Diego.
El Martes 18 de Noviembre, poco después de las 4:30 p.m., el Centro de Comunicaciones del Alguacil recibió varias llamadas alertando sobre un hombre que conducía de manera temeraria una camioneta Chevy Silverado en Santee.
Oficiales de la Estación del Alguacil de Santee intentaron detener el vehículo cerca de Mission Gorge Road y Rancho Fanita Drive, pero el conductor aceleró y se dio a la fuga.
Se inició una persecución. Los oficiales vigilaron la camioneta mientras el conductor intentaba evadirlos en medio del intenso tráfico de la autopista.
Un helicóptero ASTREA del Alguacil sobrevoló la zona y siguió al sospechoso, quien chocó contra varios vehículos y una caja de conexiones eléctricas, dañando gravemente su camioneta.
La persecución, que duró aproximadamente 20 minutos, finalizó cerca de Meade Avenue y la Calle 34 en la Ciudad de San Diego.
Daniel Ibarra (fecha de nacimiento: 07/25/1997), conductor y único ocupante del camión, fue arrestado e ingresado en la Cárcel Central de San Diego por evasión agravada y conducción temeraria.
La Patrulla de Carreteras de California (CHP) y el Departamento de Policía de San Diego están investigando las colisiones relacionadas.
