On Monday, March 30, 2026, deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a deceased individual located on an empty lot in the 1200 block of Hacienda Drive in Vista. Deputies arrived and confirmed the individual was deceased. No obvious signs of trauma were observed at the scene. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office responded and took custody of the decedent.
On Wednesday, April 1, 2026, during a thorough autopsy, the Medical Examiner identified a brain bleed that may have resulted from trauma to the head. Based on these findings, the Sheriff’s Homicide Unit responded and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
On Friday, April 3, 2026, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office arrested 26‑year‑old Arturo Garcia Morales in connection with the murder of Jose Garcia Ramirez in Vista. Garcia Morales was taken into custody in the 400 block of Seagaze Drive in Oceanside and subsequently booked into the Vista Detention Facility on a charge of murder.
Garcia Morales is being held without bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on April 8, 2026, at the North County Superior Court.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death.

Arresto de Homicidio – Vista
El lunes 30 de marzo de 2026, aguaciles de la estacion de Vista de la Oficina del Sheriff de respondieron a un informe sobre la presencia de un individuo fallecido en un lote vacío en la cuadra 1200 de Hacienda Drive en Vista. Los agentes llegaron y confirmaron que la persona había fallecido. No se observaron signos evidentes de trauma en el difunto. La Oficina del Forense del Condado de San Diego respondió y se hizo cargo del fallecido.
El miércoles 1 de abril de 2026, durante una exhaustiva autopsia, el forense identificó una hemorragia cerebral que podría haber resultado de un traumatismo en la cabeza. Basándose en estos hallazgos, la Unidad de Homicidios del Sheriff respondió y ha asumido la responsabilidad de la investigación.
El viernes 3 de abril de 2026, la Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de San Diego arrestó a Arturo García Morales, de 26 años, en relación por el asesinato de José García Ramírez en Vista. García Morales fue detenido en la cuadra 400 de Seagaze Drive en Oceanside y posteriormente ingresado en el Centro de Detención en Vista acusado de asesinato.
García Morales está detenido sin derecho a fianza y está programado para ser procesado el 8 de abril de 2026 en el Tribunal Superior del Condado Norte.
La Oficina del Forense determinará la causa y la forma de la muerte. La investigación sigue en curso.
