On June 4th, 2021, at approximately 3 pm, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station's Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by a North County Transit District Coaster train near the intersection of Leucadia Boulevard and North Coast Highway 101, in the city of Encinitas.  Upon arrival, the subject was deceased.  Deputies are investigating the incident and manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
