A woman is facing felony charges following a string of crimes involving carjacking, hit-and-run and assault with a deadly weapon in Rancho Santa Fe.
It happened on Saturday, August 29, just before 7:00 p.m. in the 6500 block of Rancho Santa Fe Farms Drive.
Deputies with the 4S Ranch Sheriff's Substation responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle parked oddly across the driveway inside a gated community in Rancho Santa Fe. When they arrived on-scene, deputies found a female driver, later identified as Laura Partida (DOB: 08/23/1985), talking to herself with the windows rolled up. The vehicle was running and in reverse. Deputies attempted to talk with Partida, but she refused to cooperate with their commands. Deputies placed a tire deflation device in front of the vehicle's tires and, using their patrol vehicles, attempted to block Partida in. She backed up and drove around the patrol vehicle, running over the tire deflation device. Partida continued driving recklessly through the neighborhood at a high rate of speed before striking a guardrail.
Partida then exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards the 7300 block of Saint Andrews Road. She then entered an open garage where she encountered an elderly couple preparing to leave for dinner. After a brief verbal confrontation, Partida took the couple's keys and gained entry to the family's vehicle. As Partida attempted to drive away in their vehicle, one of the residents was struck twice.
Sheriff's Deputies and private security officers quickly detained Partida before she could flee the property. The victim was transported to a hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Further investigation revealed that Partida had been involved in a separate incident earlier in the day on northbound Interstate 5 near Del Mar. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) advised that while driving a stolen vehicle, Partida lost control and ended up on the freeway shoulder. As a bystander attempted to assist her, Partida took their vehicle, leaving them stranded on the shoulder.
Partida was arrested and booked into the Vista Detention Facility. She is facing charges of vehicle theft, carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon resulting in injury, elder abuse and providing false identity to a peace officer.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Office is conducting the criminal investigation. The CHP is handling the collision investigations.

Mujer arrestada bajo cargos de delito grave.
Una mujer enfrenta cargos por delitos graves tras una serie de incidentes que incluyeron el robo violento de un vehículo, un atropello con fuga y una agresión con arma mortal en Rancho Santa Fe.
Los hechos ocurrieron el Sábado 29 de Agosto, poco antes de las 7:00 p.m. en la cuadra 6500 de Rancho Santa Fe Farms Drive.
Oficiales de la Subestación del Alguacil de 4S Ranch acudieron tras recibir un reporte sobre un vehículo sospechoso estacionado de manera inusual, atravesado en la entrada de una propiedad dentro de una comunidad privada en Rancho Santa Fe. Al llegar al lugar, los oficiales encontraron a una conductora —identificada posteriormente como Laura Partida (fecha de nacimiento: 08/23/1985)— hablando sola y con las ventanillas subidas. El vehículo estaba encendido y con la marcha atrás puesta. Los oficiales intentaron hablar con Partida, pero ella se negó a acatar sus órdenes. Colocaron un dispositivo para desinflar neumáticos frente a las ruedas del vehículo e intentaron bloquearle el paso con sus patrullas. Partida retrocedió, rodeó la patrulla y pasó por encima del dispositivo desinflador. Continuó conduciendo de manera temeraria y a alta velocidad por el vecindario antes de chocar contra una barrera de seguridad.
Luego, Partida salió del vehículo y huyó a pie hacia la cuadra 7300 de Saint Andrews Road. Entró en un garaje abierto donde se encontró con una pareja de ancianos que se disponía a salir a cenar. Tras una breve confrontación verbal, Partida tomó las llaves de la pareja y accedió al vehículo familiar. Mientras intentaba marcharse con el automóvil, atropelló dos veces a uno de los residentes.
Oficiales del Alguacil y guardias de seguridad privada detuvieron rápidamente a Partida antes de que pudiera escapar de la propiedad. La víctima fue trasladada a un hospital, donde recibió tratamiento por lesiones que no ponían en peligro su vida.
Una investigación posterior reveló que Partida había estado involucrada en otro incidente ese mismo día en dirección norte de la Interestatal 5 cerca de Del Mar. La Patrulla de Caminos de California (CHP) informó que, mientras conducía un vehículo robado, Partida perdió el control y terminó en el acotamiento de la autopista. Cuando un testigo intentó ayudarla, Partida se apoderó del vehículo de dicha persona, dejándola varada en el acotamiento.
Partida fue arrestada y fichada en el Centro de Detención de Vista. Ella enfrenta cargos por robo de vehículo, robo de vehículo con violencia (carjacking), agresión con arma mortal con resultado de lesiones, abuso de personas mayores y proporcionar una identidad falsa a un agente del orden.
