Fire Investigation - Spring Valley

Post Date:07/18/2021 9:42 AM

On 07/17/2021 at about 2148 hours, deputies from the Rancho San Diego Station responded to the Sweetwater Lodge Motor Home Park at 10707 Jamacha Boulevard – unit 180 in Spring Valley for an assist needed call, related to a structure fire.

Upon deputy arrival, it was reported that a juvenile male made it out of the mobile home, but an elderly female may not have gotten out.  The mobile home was fully engulfed in flames, entry could not be made.  Deputies confirmed a male juvenile made it out of the fire.  The juvenile reported his grandmother did not make it out.  Adjacent mobile homes were evacuated but the fire department contained the fire, so it did not spread.  The fire department later confirmed there was a deceased subject within the mobile home.

The juvenile's parents were contacted, responded the scene, and were informed of the circumstances. The juvenile was transported to the hospital out of an abundance of caution due to possible smoke inhalation.

Sheriff's Bomb/Arson detectives responded to the scene to determine the origin and cause of the fire.  The investigation is ongoing.
