On January 10, 2021, at approximately 1645 hours, deputies from the North Coastal Sheriff's Station's Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a report of a pedestrian who was struck by an Amtrak train near La Costa Ave and Highway 101 in the City of Carlsbad. Upon arrival, the subject was deceased. Deputies are investigating the incident and manner of death will be determined by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
