Josette Ford, Senior Policy Advisor & Strategic Planner with dark hair and green shirt smiling.

Josette Ford was appointed the Sheriff’s Senior Policy Advisor in 2015. She oversees the Sheriff’s Office strategic planning process, working with leadership to align operational objectives with the Sheriff’s vision and priorities, and to ensure organizational success is clearly defined and easily communicated.

Josette began her law enforcement career in 2005 with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office as an Intelligence Specialist assigned to the San Francisco Joint Terrorism Task Force. She joined the San Diego Sheriff’s Office in 2007 as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst with the Criminal Intelligence Detail and the San Diego Law Enforcement Coordination Center (SD-LECC). She distinguished herself as a top analyst on complex and sensitive investigations and played a key role in integrating crime and intelligence analysis functions both within the Sheriff’s Office and regionally. As the lead analyst at the SD-LECC, she supported all aspects of the operation, including onboarding and training, intelligence production, statistical reporting, budget alignment, performance reporting, and serving as chief editor for intelligence products.

In 2013, Josette was promoted to Crime Analysis Unit Manager, where she created new analyst classifications aligned with the Office’s Information-Led Policing model. She became the first Crime and Intelligence Analysis Manager, supervising a team of 33 analyst and successfully integrating analysts across operational functions.

Josette holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Master of Public Policy from UCLA. She is an experienced instructor, having served as a University of Phoenix Associate Faculty member and as a California POST-certified instructor for two decades. She is committed to delivering strategic insight and operational solutions and has completed the following executive education programs: The Science of Leadership - Harvard Medical School, Accelerated Management Program - Yale School of Management, and Change Management Certificate Program - Cornell’s SC Johnson College of Business. Josette enjoys raising her two children in America’s Finest City.
