On April 10, 2023, Deputy Ramon (Al) Cazarez died as a result of contracting COVID-19 while serving at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. Deputy Cazarez had served with the San Diego County Sheriff's Office for 22 years. He is survived by his wife and two daughters.
