The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office operates the Incarcerated Persons' Welfare Fund (IPWF) as authorized by California Penal Code §4025. The IPWF, generated primarily from jail commissary proceeds, is mandated to be used primarily for the benefit, education, and welfare of those incarcerated in the county jail. It receives no taxpayer support.
