A Father's Redemption - Kory Russell

Kory Russell is thriving working for a construction company in the North County. He achieved sobriety while taking reentry programs at the Sheriff's East Mesa Reentry Facility in Otay Mesa. CBS 8's Jeff Zevely shows us how the Sheriff's Department and one of its community partners gave Kory a chance to become the best father to his two young daughters.

Pathway to Opportunity - Angela Carapia

Angela Carapia is not allowing her past to define her future. She's striving to make the most of her second chance while working at a restaurant in the Grantville area of San Diego. She took advantage of the wrap-around services provided to her while in custody at the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility. 10News' Virginia Cha showcases her pathway to opportunity.

Travis

Reentry Works: Travis Durbin

Travis Durbin's story is one of redemption and hope. He now works as a school counselor in California's Central Valley. Travis is also working on his Master's Degree on Social Work.

He credits the Sheriff's Reentry Programs especially Thinking for a Change, as well as communication and parenting classes in preparing him for a successful return home to his family, children and community.
