Staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the Sheriff’s Communications Center provides the highest quality, professionally competent public safety services to over one million residents of San Diego County.

Emergency Services Dispatchers process more than 2,000 calls for law enforcement services each day, with more than one third of those being 9-1-1 calls. In addition to providing communications services to the various divisions of the Sheriff's Department, the Communications Center also provides communications services for other county agencies including the San Diego County Probation Department and the District Attorney's Office.

In 2020, Sheriff’s dispatchers handled 300,925 calls for service on the 9-1-1/Emergency line and 395,607 calls on the administrative (non-emergency) lines.

Sheriff's Dispatch Careers

The Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications for Sheriff’s Emergency Services Dispatcher Trainee which is an entry-level dispatcher position and Sheriff’s Emergency Services Dispatcher which is for candidates with prior fulltime experience as a Public Safety Radio Dispatcher.
