Get to Know Your San Diego Sheriff's Office
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to serve as a Sheriff’s Deputy or how law enforcement decisions are made in your community?
The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office Community Academy is your chance to find out.
This free, interactive program invites community members to go behind the badge and gain firsthand insight into the day-to-day operations of the Sheriff’s Office. Participants meet the people who serve their neighborhoods, get a behind-the-scenes look at how we keep our communities safe, and explore how public safety partnerships strengthen our communities.
What You’ll Experience
Over the course of several weeks, participants will:
Meet Deputies and Sheriff's Office Leaders – Engage directly with law enforcement professionals and ask questions in an open, welcoming environment.
Learn About Key Operations – Explore topics such as investigations, patrol procedures, forensics, detentions, and emergency response.
Participate in Hands-On Demonstrations – Experience interactive activities that show how deputies respond to real-world scenarios.
Build Lasting Connections – Strengthen understanding and collaboration between residents and law enforcement.
Who Can Participate
The Community Academy is open to residents of San Diego County, who want to learn more about how the Sheriff’s Department serves their community. There are no fees to attend, but space is limited.
