Do you have a 5th Grader who wants to be Sheriff for the day?

Now is their chance! This is an exciting opportunity for one lucky 5th grader from San Diego County to spend the day with Sheriff Kelly Martinez and experience what it's like to be the Sheriff of San Diego County! They will learn about being a leader in law enforcement, helping your community, and get the experience of a lifetime as they will be the honorary Sheriff for the day!

How to Enter:
  • The student must be a 5th grader in San Diego County
  • Parent or guardian permission required to participate
  • The student must write a short paragraph (5-10 sentences) about why they would like to be the Sheriff and how they would help their community

The Sheriff for the Day Experience

  • Get pinned with an official Sheriff badge & certificate
  • Work with the Sheriff for a day
  • Tour the Sheriff’s Headquarters and visit a patrol station
  • Ride in a patrol car
  • Meet McGruff the Crime Dog & more!

Important Dates:
  • Deadline to submit entry is Friday, April 11, 2025
  • Sheriff for a day will take place on Thursday, May 22, 2025
