U visa Information

Under federal law, victims of certain crimes who have suffered substantial physical or mental abuse and are helpful to law enforcement or government officials in the investigation or prosecution of the criminal activity are eligible to apply for a U Nonimmigrant Status (U visa). The U visa allows eligible victims, and qualifying family members, to live and work in the United States for up to four years with the possibility of obtaining permanent resident status.

T visa Information

T nonimmigrant status is a temporary immigration benefit. It enables certain victims of a severe form of trafficking in persons to remain in the United States for an initial period of up to four years if they complied with any reasonable request for assistance from law enforcement in the detection, investigation, or prosecution of human trafficking or qualify for an exemption or exception. T nonimmigrant status is also available to certain eligible family members of trafficking victims.

 The Sheriff's Spanish Academy is a multi-week program in partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education - Migrant Education program. It is designed as a relationship-building program to help provide equity in educating our Spanish-speaking community about law enforcement procedures and resources.
